Recently, a delegation led by lab director Zhong Nanshan, executive deputy directorChen Ling and Asso. Prof Yang Zifeng, was invited to visit the WHO Cooperation Center of Immunology and Epidemiology of the school of public health of HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine and signed a cooperation agreement.

On June 14, the Cooperation Center held a forum on the “transmission and control of respiratory pathogens”, which was prefaced by Academician Zhong Nanshan, the first “outstanding Chinese scholar in the centennial anniversary of HKU”, who made a keynote speech with the title of “Prevention and control of infection--how to effectively resist to new infectious diseases”. His speech won applauds and recognition from 200 guests and audiences at the site.

The delegation of the Laboratory was also invited to visit the State Key Laboratory of Emerging Infectious Diseases of HKU and the department of microbiology of HKU. Both sides negotiated on their future scientific research cooperation and reached an initial intention of cooperation on research fields which they can cooperate in.
