Academician Nanshan Zhong Held a Seminar Sharing COVID-19 Prevention Practices with Foreigners in Guangzhou
2020-04-151060On April 15, Academician Nanshan Zhong, leader of High-level Expert Group of the National Health Commission, founding director of SKLRD and director of National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Disease, held a seminar with foreigner representatives studying and working in Guangzhou. The 19 foreigners at the seminar come from 16 countries in Africa, Asia and other continents, with whom Academician Zhong shook hands one by one. They shared what they saw and heard in Guangzhou, and asked questions like “How should international students in Guangzhou take preventive measures?”, “How do Africa and South Asia cope with the pandemic?”, “When it is necessary to wear a mask?”, “How to differentiate COVID-19 from other diseases?”, “How can children be diagnosed of COVID-19?”, “Can mosquitoes spread COVID-19?” and “How should global cooperation in pandemic prevention and control be unfolded?”.
At the seminar, Academician Nanshan Zhong delivered a report titled “China’s Practices in Fighting against COVID-19”. He emphasized that we live in the same world, hence all countries shall work together to fight against the disease. The Chinese government has taken stringent prevention and control measures since the outbreak of COVID-19 to stop the spread of the virus, with the most important measures being mask wearing and distance maintenance. In the exchange segment, he shared his opinions and suggestions on personal preventive measures, international exchange and cooperation in the fight against COVID-19, identification and diagnosis of COVID-19, and regular exercising to stay healthy.

Tasneem Zareen Mayeesa, a clinical medicine major from Class 2014 in the Guangzhou Medical University from Bangladesh, revealed that she had been living in Guangzhou for 6 years, and that she was honored and proud to be a student of Academician Nanshan Zhong.
