SKLRD’s Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Joint Laboratory for Infectious Diseases Awarded with the Plaque
2019-12-091365On the afternoon of December 19, Guangdong Initiation Meeting of Key Projects in Basic and Applied Basic Research was held in Guangzhou. Among the first 10 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Joint Laboratories awarded with the plaque was the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Joint Laboratory for Infectious Diseases led by SKLRD.
With Academician Nanshan Zhong working as the director, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Joint Laboratory for Infectious Diseases will be jointly established by the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole, The Macau University of Science and Technology, KingMed Diagnostics Group Co., Ltd. and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Giving play to its strengths and integrating the forces and clinical resources in basic research of infectious diseases in the Greater Bay Area, the Joint Laboratory will unfold collaborative researches, analyze the pathogenesis, transmission, genetic variation and infection mechanisms of important pathogens, and find new prevention and control targets. Efforts will be made to develop potential innovative drugs and vaccines, diagnosis and prevention products and equipment, boost the clinical translation and application of new prevention, diagnosis and treatment strategies, so as to better enhance the scientific innovation ability of the Greater Bay Area and provide technical support of the public health in the area.
