A Critical Headway Achieved in the Research of Dai People’s Medicine Alstonia Scholaris: TA of Alstonia Scholaris Can Improve Pulmonary Injury Caused by Influenza Infection by Reg...
2020-07-131038Recently, a team of researchers led by Zifeng Yang from SKLRD, has worked with Luo Xiaodong, a research fellow from the State Key Laboratory of Phytochemistry and Western China’s Plant Resources of Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Zhihong Jiang from the State Key Laboratory of TCM Quality of Macau University of Science and Technology to carry out an in vivo and in vitro study on the anti-influenza virus activity and mechanism of total alkaloids from Alstonia scholaris (TA), a famous medicine of Dai people. The results have formed a paper with the title of “Total alkaloids from Alstonia scholaris inhibit influenza A virus replication and lung immunopathology by regulating the innate immune response”, which has been included into Phytomedicine, a journal of the first zone of medical science (a zone of SCI Journal of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2020). The study provided references for the research and development of anti-influenza medicines with the raw materials including Picrinine, Valamine alkaloid, Alstonia scholaris sub-alkaloid and 19 Alstonia scholaris sub-alkaloid and provided a scientific basis for the application of TCM containing alkaloids in the prevention and treatment of influenza. Meanwhile, the research findings have revealed the function and characteristic of TA with two-way regulation of innate immunity and provided a new idea for the exploration of treatment strategy of influenza with TCM.
