On November 3, the 2020 Awarding Ceremony for National Awards for Science and Technology was held in Beijing. The innovation team of respiratory disease prevention and control led by Zhong Nanshan with the SKLRD won an award for innovation teams of National Award for Scientific Progresses in 2020. Since the said team was established by 1979 under the heading of academic leaders Zhong Nanshan, He Jianxing and Ran Pixin, it has made an important contribution to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of major respiratory diseases such as COPD, lung cancer, SARS and Covid-19 that had affected the health of Chinese residents.
