Recently, the “Ten Scientific Progresses of Colleges and Universities in China” in 2021 were unveiled in the appraisal and selection organized by the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Education. The research fruit of the team led by Academician Zhong Nanshan with Guangzhou Medical University, “research on the prevention and control, clinical diagnosis and treatment and mechanism of the Covid-19 infection” was selected.

This was another achievement of Guangzhou Medical University selected following the “early intervention of COPD” achieved by the team of professor Ran Pixin which won the same honor in 2017.

On January 20, 2020, academician Zhong Nanshan said that the Novel coronavirus could be “transferred from person to person” in an interview with CCTV
