On the morning of July 25, 2016, a delegation of 8 members of University of Macau led by its president Zhao Wei paid a visit to the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University/State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease. The delegation signed important intentions of cooperation with the Laboratory on the issues such as joint cultivation of graduates, mutual appointment of professors and joint application for science and technology projects.

The meeting was held at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. President Wang Xinhua expressed warm welcome to the arrival of the delegation of Macau University and hoped that both sides could exchange views and deepen cooperation to serve Guangdong and Macau. The president Deng Chuxia and Wang Yitao and executive deputy director Chen Ling respectively introduced the scientific research development of the School of Health Science of Macau University, ICMS and the SKLRD and proposed the fields and demands of respective intentions of cooperation.

Both sides initially agreed to establish a wide cooperation in such areas as joint cultivation of graduates, mutual appointment of professors and joint application for scientific and technological programs, with an intention to propose the clinical application of medical technology fruits of Macau University relying on the industry-academy-research advantages of the SKLRD.

In the end, President Zhao Wei and Academician Zhong Nanshan signed a letter of cooperation intention on behalf of both sides. After the meeting, some representatives of Macau University was shown by Professor Zhou around the industry-academy-research base of the SKLRD and further understood the industry-academy-research development status of the SKLRD.
