Bronchiectasis Research Team of SKLRD Honored with Multiple Internationally Significant Academic Honors at the ERS Annual Meeting
2019-10-024011The European Respiratory Society (ERS) Annual Meeting 2019 was held in Madrid, Spain from September 28 to October 2. It was actively attended by researches from countries across the world, revealing bronchiectasis as one of the hot research interests. At the invitation of the chairperson of the ERS, associate researcher Weijie Guan, head of the bronchiectasis research team of SKLRD, served as the chairperson of the bulletin discussion column Phenotyping and Endotyping Bronchiectasis.

During the meeting, the editorial board of the European Respiratory Journal (Impact factor: 11.807) commended the outstanding reviewers of the previous year. After nomination by the associate editor, approval of the editorial board after discussion and review of the chief editor, Guan was awarded with the European Respiratory Journal Peer Reviewer Award 2018.

Organized by EMBARC, the world’s largest bronchiectasis research group, the 4th World Bronchiectasis & NTM Conference will be unfolded in Barcelona, Spain from July 2 to July 4, 2020. At the invitation of the Chairpersons—Italian scholar Professor Francesco Blasi and Spanish scholar Professor Antoni Torres, associate researcher Weijie Guan will serve as a Scientific Committee member.

At the invitation of Professor Alyn Morice with the UK-based University of Hull, a noted research expert in cough, associate researcher Weijie Guan will work as as associate editor of ERJ Open Research, a sub-publication under ERJ. A journal published by the ERS, ERJ Open Research is aimed to publish high-quality original works, reviews and short research papers on respirology.

Thanks to the unremitting efforts of Chinese scholars, China’s bronchiectasis research has been increasingly recognized by international peers with the establishment of our bronchiectasis diagnosis and treatment platform and acceleration of talent development. It’s expected that more innovative clinical and fundamental translation researches can be unfolded by China in the near future to bring new hope for bronchiectasis diagnosis and treatment.
